More than riding lessons
Our approach
Great coaching is about far more than teaching someone to sit on a horse. At Minninnooka, we believe horses have the power to change lives — building confidence in children who have struggled, developing sporting talent in those with ambition, and creating real futures for young people ready to turn their passion into a career.
Our coaching method is built around three clear pathways. Each one is structured, purposeful and led by coaches with deep experience of working with children and young people. Whether a child comes to us for support, for sport or for their future — there is a place for them here.
"We aim to develop knowledgeable horsemen, confident riders and capable young people who continue learning long after the lesson has finished."
Where does your child's journey begin?
Three pathways
Every rider begins with a skills assessment, and from there we create a structured plan that allows development to happen step by step — confidently and naturally.
Why Minninnooka
What makes our coaching method different
Every child who comes to Minninnooka is treated as an individual. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here — our coaches build programmes around the person, not the curriculum.
Structured pathways, not ad hoc lessons
Every child begins with an assessment. From there, a clear development plan is built — so progress happens deliberately and confidently.
A supportive community
Progress happens faster when children feel they belong. Minninnooka is a welcoming environment where every young person is valued and celebrated.

Experience with complex needs
Our coaching team has extensive experience supporting children with SEND, anxiety, school disengagement and additional learning needs.
Real pathways to the future
From work experience and apprenticeships to coaching qualifications, we connect young people with genuine opportunities in the equestrian industry.

Learning on and off the horse
We develop the whole child — horsemanship, theory, welfare and life skills, not just riding technique. Educated riders progress faster.

Parents and coaches, working together
As parents ourselves, we understand what families need. We communicate clearly, listen carefully and keep every child's wellbeing at the centre.

Skills for life
Across all three pathways, children and young people develop a core set of transferable skills that stay with them in school, at home and throughout their lives.
Working with horses teaches children to think independently, communicate clearly, manage their emotions, take responsibility and persist through challenges. These are qualities valued in every area of life — and experiences that build genuine, lasting self-belief.
