What Does a Pony Day Camp Look Like?
Our Pony Day Camps are designed to give children a fun, hands-on and confidence-building experience around horses in a relaxed and supportive family environment.
Children spend the day learning not only how to ride, but also how to care for and understand horses, while building confidence, responsibility and teamwork along the way.
8:30am – Arrival & Pony Preparation
Children arrive at the yard from 8:30am and are introduced to the ponies, horses and activities planned for the day. Mornings often begin with grooming, tacking up and learning how to safely handle and care for the horses.
Riding Activities
Every camp day is different, and riding activities are planned around the age, confidence and experience of the group attending that day.
Depending on the riders, activities may include:
-
English riding lessons
-
Hacking and riding out
-
Polo skills and games
-
Pole work and jumping exercises
-
Gymkhana-style games
-
Confidence-building riding activities
We aim to keep the days varied, enjoyable and educational while helping children progress naturally and safely.
Stable Management & Horse Care
Throughout the day, children are involved in learning all aspects of horse and pony care, including:
-
Grooming
-
Tacking up and untacking
-
Feeding and care
-
Stable management
-
Yard chores
-
Horse behaviour and safety
-
General horsemanship
We also plan additional activities and demonstrations throughout the day to incorporate learning in a fun and practical way.
Lunch
Lunch is provided as part of the day unless your child has specific dietary requirements or allergies, in which case we ask parents to let us know in advance.
Children also have time to relax, socialise and enjoy being around the horses and yard environment.
Afternoon Activities
Afternoons continue with a mixture of riding, horse care, games and educational activities depending on the group and weather. No two camp days are exactly the same, helping to keep the experience engaging, varied and exciting for returning children.
4:00pm – Collection
Children are collected at 4:00pm after helping untack, care for the ponies and finish end-of-day yard routines.
More Than Just Riding
Our Pony Day Camps are about much more than time in the saddle. We want children to experience real life with horses, build confidence, learn responsibility and most importantly have fun in a safe, welcoming and encouraging environment.
